Meals on Wheels of Hendricks County
About Us
After seeing a Meals on Wheels program in action while on vacation in Texas, Carolyn and Clark Kellum and a group of interested citizens and hospital staff formed a committee to initiate a system of providing regular, nutritional meals to people in their homes. On May 7, 1973 services began with ten recipients on three routes.
Today Meals on Wheels of Hendricks County continues to provide regular, nutritional meals to clients across Hendricks County. Last year we provided over 24,000 hot meals. In addition to providing this service we provide much more. Our volunteer drivers serve as a wellness check and human connection.
Mission
To promote the dignity in older adults, persons with disabilities, and other homebound persons living in Hendricks County by delivering nutritious meals, bolstering overall health & fostering independence.
Vision
Meals on Wheels is the collaborative leader in Hendricks County for delivery of nutritious and affordable meals to persons in need and the point of contact for them with the healthcare system.
